Happy Caturday! We hope you are having fun today, its getting closer to Halloween and the holidays. Did you know that momma was interviewed once by People Pets about dressing up your kitty for Halloween?

Well over the years momma has discovered ways to make it easier on us cats who have humans that want us to wear things, so I wanted to share our general tips for dressing up your pet for the holidays. Or is howlidays or meowlidays! MOL

Heck this might even help some more of my kitty furriends enter our Halloween costume contest this year, actually we have had quite a number of kitties enter in the past.

Tip #1 – Get your pet use to wearing clothes, the earlier the better, so if you have a kitten or a puppy start now. And even if your cat or dog isn’t little anymore frequent short sessions with clothes can get them use to putting stuff on. Cats might prefer to be held when wearing something at first.

Tip #2 – Approach them when they are relaxing or napping. The more comfortable your cat or dog is, the better. Cats can be more easily dressed when they are laying down.

Tip #3 – Ask for help from another family member or friend. Dressing cats can be much easier with two people and makes the process faster.

Tip #4 – Watch out for their ears! Many costumes come with hoods or hats that may press down on the ears and cats especially do not like this. Look for costumes that will have hoods or hats that work around the ears.

Tip #5 – Most cats won’t like to be dressed for long periods of time. Short photo shoots are better and keeping the treats handy always helps.

Tip #6 – Be sure to select the right size for your cat or dog. Check the measurements for each size available for the style you wish to purchase. If any sizing is equal to or on the border it is always best to go a size up for dogs. For cats, a size up may be too big so be sure to see how big the next size up really is.
